For sale is a wonderful circa 1850s to third-quarter 19th century antique American miniature/salesman sample two over three chest of drawers. We are unsure of the wood grain species but we believe it to possibly be walnut or some type of open grain American hardwood.

It was suggested that it also could be Hickory. We are unsure so please see our close-up detailed pictures for your consideration. This American miniature is solid and very well-crafted. It has original dovetailed joinery and we believe the secondary woods to be poplar or southern pine. It may also be a southern chest of drawers but again we are uncertain.

The ball feet and wood may help identify the region. Out of a New York estate so probably Northeast in construction. It has original wood knobs and sits on ball feet. There is a pencil signature of what appears to be LEAKE (please see picture) written on the side of one drawer. Patina appears original The chest having an old wood split on back right corner (see picture) Very sturdy. A fine addition to ones collection of American miniature salesman sample furniture.
