VINTAGE JAPANESE (c. 1930) PERSIMMON WOOD 7 DRAWER HARIBAKO SEWING TANSU CHEST

This is an early Showa vintage c. (sewing box) with a unique arrangement of five drawers and an additional removable 6th drawer with 3 part section under the lidded top (see pictures 4 & 5). There is a hidden 7th drawer behind the tray in the lid. A side slot (see picture 7) was once used to house a bamboo measuring device (not included). This haribako has a very exotic persimmon wood exterior and paulownia (kiri) wood drawer interiors. This chest has been well used yet well loved, with the exception of a few very minor signs of past use and missing veneer it remains in. All drawers run smoothly and the top lidded section swings open and closed with ease. Please enjoy viewing the enlarged photos of this chest.
