Vintage Oak Wood Machinist Pilliod Chest, Tool Box 6 Drawers Brass Trim & Nobs

Measuring 18" x 1O" x 8. This is a wonderful chest made by the Pilliod Lumber Co. This company also made silverware cabinets another beautifully made boxes. Pilliod was established in 1896 but closed around 1926 after a fire destroyed the business. This is such a gorgeous example of a Pilliod antiques tool box. If you are a collector, you will know what to look for. All the knobs and corners are brass.

And it is a beauty! Pilliod was known and appreciated for their simple, utilitarian yet elegant and you might say "formal" classic design with exquisite craftsmanship.

They lined the drawers with green felt and all but on of the drawers still has that original felt lining after all these years. There is no handle on the top of the box, but it doesn't detract from the look of the piece. It has a great look -- the oak and stain are gorgeous. The narrow drawers and the drawer pools are a pleasure to experience. There are a few tiny details to mention but, compared to the overall condition, it does not seem like a problem. The lock is still in place but is missing a simple small key that would probably be easy to find. There is a very minor hairline crack on the back of the tool chest you can see it in the photograph - but it doesn't appear to lessen the integrity of the structure. It is a very solid and serviceable took chest. This piece of history will make a great multi-purpose for storage for any use great item for the collector.
